They transferred Alyssa by ambulance to Scott & White Children's in Temple. That night when we arrived, she spiked a fever again and her oxygen levels would dip and her breathing would become more labored. They had to put our sweet girl back on oxygen. At some point, Alyssa threw up all over me (I think maybe due to all the anti-seizure medication they gave her). It wasn't until about 2:30 that morning that David and Andrew left the hospital to go to the hotel room. All the hotel rooms in Temple were booked up so they got a "yucky" hotel room that smelled "funny" according to Andrew! That night was pretty restless for me and Alyssa.
David and Andrew returned around 8:30 the next morning. The nuerologist came in at some point but at that time we didn't realize the most severe issue were were dealing with was the seizure since we had been lead to think the potential colitis was the biggest concern. So there was a lot of confusion and fear!
Poor Alyssa began throwing herself around violently and writhed in pain and would jerk on the iv. She literally wore me out! She was in so much pain and very uncomfortable (picture the exorcist) so after a lot of fussing with the nurses and making some calls to friends, things got hustling and the chief of pediatrics came in. She ordered morphine for Alyssa and our baby girl stayed sedated the majority of the day. Lots and lots of people were praying over our sweet angel!
Later we were able to get out PICU and checked in to room 513. Grammy came to town and she and Aunt Chelle, Shane & Cameron headed back to Waco. Andrew was able to hang out at home rather than the hospital. We missed him TERRIBLY and it broke our heart to be away from him but we knew he had already been through so much we didn't want him to endure any more stress that comes with being in a hospital or having a sick sister....
