Yesterday, Alyssa had her two month checkup. I took her along with Andrew to Dr. Loden since he had a sore throat. Talk about a BUSY appointment!
Luckily, Alyssa was in a great mood and very cooperative. After a rainy and long weekend in Jefferson for Andrew, he on the other hand, was a bit hyper. But the 3 of us survived and after TWO HOURS, we accomplished this:
* Alyssa now weighs 12 lbs and is 24" long - she is 75% percentile for both height and weight.
* Her head circumference was 15.5.
* Alyssa also had her rotavirus vaccine which she drank fairly well. I don't think it really tasted like cherries as the nurse said, but she got it down nonetheless...
* 3 shots for Alyssa...she did NOT like those! But Andrew handled her shots better than I anticipated. I feared he would get upset but he did really well!
* A positive strep swab for Andrew and another round of Azithromycin for him. Hopefully this strep will clear up without needing steroids like the last bout required a few weeks ago.
All in all, it was a "good" visit. The shots knocked Alyssa out most of the day although she was quite fussy until we gave her Tylenol. She has been pretty lethargic today too which the information packlet said was a common side effect. Andrew has remained pretty hyper and I think everyone is looking forward to his return to daycare tomorrow. He's really been a trouper and such a big helper though. I think he just misses being able to run around and having fun with his friends.
I officially start back to work tomorrow :( and David is going to try and keep Alyssa home as long as he can juggle his work with her home. Aside from the cost of daycare, we want to keep her out until cold and flu season passes. And according to our doctor yesterday, RSV is running rampant so he said it was best for her to not be in a daycare setting or any congested areas such as Wal-Mart or HEB.
I think the reality of having 2 kids plus juggling work, church, life and all the other stuff is getting starting to set in. Let the juggling begin!!!
